We could make an incredible series of dishes using soy sauce. And one that I especially enjoy making is a popular favorite: General Tso’s Chicken. It is a classic dish and a delight eat at home. Here I bring you the recipe. And I hope to see photos on Twitter of how yours came out.
INGREDIENTS for General Tso’s Chicken
- 1 chicken breast cut into cubes.
- Salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Sriracha
- 1/2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 1/2 tbsp Kikkoman reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp bean paste (can be found in oriental stores)
- 2 tsp honey
- 1/2 tbsp traditional Kikkoman soy sauce
- Canola oil
- 1 garlic tooth, peeled and crushed
- 1 tbsp rice wine or dry sherry
- 4 dried tree chilies
- 2 cambray onions, chopped
- 1 cup peanuts, roasted and chopped
- Steamed rice to serve
We’re going to cook it in steps. First, we are going to season the cubed chicken breast and add the cornstarch. Mix well. And for the sauce, we are going to combine the sriracha, the soy sauces, vinegar, bean paste, honey, and mix very well. Reserve.
Heat the wok and add the oil when it begins to smoke. Add the garlic and chicken and leave a minute before starting to sauté for two minutes. When the chicken begins to change color, add the rice wine and the dried chiles, and fry for about 15 seconds. Then add the sauce, mix together, and cook for about 3 minutes. Cook the chicken in the sauce until the sauce is reduced and has thickened, about two minutes. Sauté onions and peanuts for a minute. Serve on rice.
